Our Story
The Village began informally in 2021, when Brian and Maggie fundraised from
friends and family to provide mountain bikes for a few local kids and
rode with them weekly at a local bike park. Heaven was one of our inaugural riders, and
her mother Whitney used her incredible community network to recruit additional families
and expand the program. Thanks to Whitney and Heaven, in our second year we increased
from three riders to nine, including Heaven's little sister Starfly!
Mountain biking isn't for everyone though, so after our third season of riding we
formally established The Village as a nonprofit and decided to broaden our scope. Using
our bike project as a model, we recruit professional instructors to offer free lessons in the
the pursuit of a child's choice, and through fundraising provide all of the equipment
the child will need, always at no cost to participating families.

The Village is a state and federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. We are entirely
volunteer based and rely on your generosity in order to help children chase their dreams.
Your donation is tax deductible and will enable us to provide free lessons and equipment
to children who would not otherwise have access to these resources and pursuits.

Our Team

The Village means that circumstances don't have
to determine opportunity.
All of us in positions
of privilege have an obligation
to support our neighbors, particularly those who have historically been
denied opportunity. The
Village exists to support
kids' dreams, no matter what
their circumstances.

President

The Village
means connection!
We offer kids a unique opportunity to learn
something new, or access something that's been unreachable before.
One opportunity may
be all it takes to find that special thing that changes a child's whole life.
At the Village we aim
to offer those experiences
of a lifetime!

Vice President

The Village is a way
to grow and nurture
community through the
joys and skills of activities.
I love to ski, climb, mountain bike, and make pottery. I
learned these things through mentorship. The Village
enables us to spread the
gift of mentorship and
open kids’ dreams and imaginations to the many possibilities of joyful and
life-giving activities.

Secretary

The Village
means learning
new things,
meeting new people, and
making sure
that everyone's
needs are met!
